Michael Stühlbarg is joining the cast of “Star Trek” Discovery, the streaming service announced Monday.
“Star Treks” actor Stuhbarg will play Commander Riker on the CBS science-fiction series.
“The cast of ‘Star Trek’ is made up of some of TV’s most talented actors and we’re so excited to welcome Michael St.uhlborg to the fold,” the streaming site said in a statement.
Stuhbararg, who plays Commander Rikers grandfather on the show, has also starred in other series including “The Shield” and “Empire,” and his roles have included a recurring role on “Lost.”
Stuhlbararg is best known for his role as Captain Kirk on the series “Star Wars: The Original Trilogy,” where he played the role for nearly five years.
The character is also seen on the upcoming ABC drama “The 100,” and has a role in “The Exorcist” and the upcoming “The Flash.”
The cast of the upcoming CBS series is made of actors who are well known in the industry, and include actor Jason Isaacs (Game of Thrones), actor Robert Picardo (The Vampire Diaries), actress Anna Torv (Criminal Minds), actor Michael Chiklis (The Walking Dead), and actress Aisha Tyler (Star Trek Beyond).
