A friendly against Manchester United would be an option, but the former coach is more likely to use it as a springboard to return to Serie A with an improved team, according to his assistant.
Milan sporting director Giuseppe Marotta has hinted that he is considering bringing in his former boss for a match against United at the Stadio Olimpico, and could be tempted to use the opportunity to give a few of his former players a taste of the Serie A. The former coach had the squad he coached in Serie A in place at the start of the season, with the only difference being the addition of two new signings, but his side have now dropped to 16th in the table.
Marotta said he was considering using the game to give players a chance to show off their skills, and is also interested in bringing in former Manchester United players, according to Italian newspaper Cricket Italy.
“We’re in the process of discussing a game with Manchester United,” he said, according the La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I think a friendly match with them would be the best opportunity for me.
I am still in the first stages of negotiations, but we’ll see.””
I would also be open to it.

Marotta has admitted that his team’s form has been lacking this season, and that he believes he has been able to salvage them with the introduction of a new system and style of play.
This summer, the Milan squad was weakened by the departure of Dani Carvajal, with former Manchester City star Gareth Bale now the only striker in the squad.
According to Marotta, he is still confident his side can return to the Premier League, but he admitted that a friendly would be one of the options he considered for a boost.
“Maybe a friendly, but it’s not a guarantee,” he told Sport.
“It’s not my plan, but I would love to play against a top club.
It’s not as difficult as I thought it would be, but you have to see what we can do to get back to the Champions League.
He added: “We have to take the positive steps, but not the negative ones.”
In the same interview, Marotta also said that he has not ruled out a possible summer transfer for one of his players.”

The one thing is we have to wait and see, but maybe we can bring a player from one of our youth teams.”
