It’s not the first time Google has missed a docking station with its home planet.
In 2013, Google’s Earth Viewer app mistakenly showed a planet’s orbit instead of its home star.
But that’s not what Google had planned, and it didn’t get corrected until months later.
So what’s going on here?
According to The American Express, the Space Bar was supposed to be in Google Maps at the time.
But the company’s own app wasn’t set up to show that information, so Google Maps still showed EarthViewer as being in Google Earth, even though it was actually in Google maps.
So, the company had to build an app to show the proper location.
The app’s developer, Jonathan Katz, wrote an update to the app that showed the correct location, and Google’s engineers figured out how to get the correct data.
Google Maps now shows the correct orbit for the space station, but EarthViewers location is incorrect.
It’s not just Google that’s lost this docking station information.
Apple’s Maps app has been missing docking station data since September.
The problem has been making it harder to get accurate directions to Apple’s stores and offices around the world.
